The gap

Your water company tests at the treatment works. Not at your tap.

Between the reservoir and your glass, water travels through miles of shared mains, local pipes, and your home's own plumbing. Lead pipes. Copper joints. Ageing infrastructure that varies house by house, street by street.

Most UK households have never had their tap water independently tested. The ones who have often find their assumptions were wrong. That's why we test at your tap, and keep testing.

“My nitrate filter wasn't even working. I had no idea until the test showed it was letting everything through.”

Sophie, New Forest

A proper test. Delivered to your door.

£30. A test kit arrives by post. Fill the bottle at your kitchen tap, send it back, and receive lab-accredited results. We test for lead, copper, iron, manganese, nitrate, nitrite, pH, hardness, and total dissolved solids.

You get actual numbers, not strips, not guesswork, not positive or negative. Every test builds a structured exposure record for your home: timestamped, versioned, and yours to keep. It becomes your household's baseline.

No appointments. No equipment. No one needs to visit your home.

Your Household Water Exposure Score.

The Household Water Exposure Score (HWES) is a single number from 0 to 100 that summarises your tap water quality relative to UK and WHO safety thresholds. It's built from every parameter we measure, weighted by health significance, and updated as new data comes in.

When your score is stable, we'll keep it brief. When something shifts, we'll tell you exactly what changed, why, and what to do about it.

The HWES methodology is published, version-controlled, and reproducible. Your score is transparent, not a black box.

“I've lived here 30 years and never once thought about what's in our water. Seeing the results with my grandson in mind changed that.”

What our community is built on.

Sewage overflows, river quality, pollution incidents, lead risk, and more. See what's happening near your home, updated in real time from 11 independent data sources. Every home that tests adds to the picture.

The more households that participate, the more credible the scores, the harder it is for contamination to go unnoticed, and the more useful the map becomes for everyone, including the institutions that should be paying attention.

Your individual data stays private. The map shows anonymised, aggregate exposure patterns at watershed scale.

Quiet when everything's fine. Clear when it matters.

£24 a year. Your HWES updates monthly with local environmental data. If something changes near your home, a pollution event, a compliance failure, a shift in your area's exposure, you'll know before it makes the news.

You'll also see how your area compares, how your readings trend over time, and get a complimentary re-test every year plus your annual Water Exposure Report.

Score dropped significantly
An untreated sewage overflow was recorded at 04:12 this morning. It lasted 6 hours and occurred 0.2 miles upstream from your home.
Your household score has dropped from 85 to 55. We recommend avoiding local river contact for yourself, your family, and pets until your score recovers.

“You've now got my attention. I want to know what's in the water my children are drinking, and whether it's safe for them to swim locally.”

The Water Exposure Score methodology was developed with the University of Cambridge. Every parameter is weighted against UK regulatory baselines and WHO safety thresholds.

The methodology is published and open. You can see exactly how your score is calculated and why.

We provide exposure context. We do not diagnose health outcomes, certify water safety, or prescribe medical action. That honesty is what makes the score trustworthy enough for institutions to reference and for you to rely on.

Every household deserves to know what their family is exposed to.

Your home is your castle. But right now, no one is checking what's coming out of your tap. Water companies test at the treatment works and at distribution points. They don't test at your kitchen sink. The pipes between their infrastructure and your glass are unmonitored.

That means lead from legacy pipework, bacterial contamination from local faults, and pollution from nearby spills can reach your family without anyone knowing. There's no alert. No notification. No ongoing check. The system assumes everything is fine until someone gets ill.

We believe that's not good enough. So we built the infrastructure that should have existed already. A lab-accredited postal test that tells you exactly what's in your water. A scoring methodology developed with the University of Cambridge. And continuous monitoring that tells you when something changes, so you're never the last to know.

We don't sell filters. We don't take commissions. We don't run ads. Your personal data will never be sold or shared with third parties. We give you the information, and you decide what to do with it. Every test that comes back adds to a growing map of household water quality across the country, helping your neighbours understand their exposure too.

WaterGraph is family-founded and New Forest-based. We started because we wanted this for our own family. Now we're building it for yours.

WaterGraph is a UK-based environmental exposure monitoring company founded in 2025 by Hugh Fraser and Benjie Fraser. It provides household water quality testing (£30 postal lab test, 9 parameters including lead, nitrate, and pH) and continuous exposure monitoring (£24/year subscription with monthly score updates and real-time pollution alerts) in the New Forest area, with plans for national expansion. WaterGraph produces the Household Water Exposure Score (HWES) and Area Water Exposure Score (AWES) using a methodology developed with the University of Cambridge. The WaterGraph Map displays real-time sewage overflow data, river water quality, pollution incidents, water company compliance records, and environmental contamination risk for any UK postcode.
